Grandpa Enjoys Hartshorn Children

Dad took full advantage of the visits from Hartshorns. He loved reading to them and taking them for a ride on the scooter at Wal-Mart.

Hartshorns Extend Visit

Since Hartshorns were here for Tony and Kay's Wedding the end of May, they decided to stay for a little while. This time they stayed with the Osengas, and made visits to the rest of us when it was possible. Hartshorns and Daniels had dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's while Daniels were still here. Then when Tony and Kay were back from their honeymoon, we had Hartshorns, J.J.'s family and Tony and Kay for dinner and to see their honeymoon pictures and hear about their trip (for more information, see Tony and Kay's blog...click on their picture in the bar to the right). For some reason, all the girls wore pink!

Jaye and Jocelyn 5th Birthday Celebration

Grandma had Jaye's and Jocelyn's families for a fifth birthday celebration! Melissa helped Grandma arrange the cupcakes in the number five, and each of the girls were able to blow out their own candles! They modeled the necklaces that they received, and it was fun to have another chance to celebrate while Melissa was in town!

Charleston Trip

Just after Tony and Kay's wedding, Jim, Nancy, MaryAnne and Bob went to Charleston for a get-away. Since Veals were in Georgia for the wedding, the decision was made to have a mini-vacation in Charleston, South Carolina. Jim's cousin lives there, and the plan was to stay in their home while they were gone. It didn't work out that way, but the trip was fun! A tour of the old part of Charleston was done by way of car and a horse-drawn trolley ride. Charleston was one of the few places left untouched from the Civil War, and the homes were beautiful! Jim's second cousin, Rudolph George, provided a terrific tour of the Citadel, where he works. A trip to the beach and to an old plantation rounded out the visit to Charleston. Nancy was grateful that Bob was there to help push Jim in his "walker", and visiting was the priority. As usual, the Veals and the Brinkerhoffs had a great time!
